The hard part in producing this album was trying not make it sound like a seventies synth album or modern dance record. Most of the aesthetic of that is driven by reverb and compression styles.  So I had the idea to re-amp certain parts in the Manchester church we recorded Montauk in. This way at times the album feels like an instrument in a room not a synth with reverb!
