This is another solo piano album from long time friend and collaborator Matthew Bourne. We wanted this album to sound bigger than we previously have gone for. An idea I’ve been exploring for a while is to make acoustic instruments sound unnaturally big but still believable and dynamic. The current vogue of overly compressed mixes with long reverbs is something we wanted to avoid yet not be overshadowed by, especially in “volume”. It turned out well especially on the vinyl.
